Welcome to the Bat x Ball Cricket League (BBCL)
Where Tradition Meets a New Standard
Cricket in New Jersey did not begin with leagues, trophies, or organized tournaments.
It began with passion.
In the early 1990s, Shahzada Saleem began organizing and playing cricket in New Jersey at a time when the game had little structure and limited visibility. Through dedication, relationships, and love for the sport, he helped build a foundation for competitive cricket in the region — grounded in respect, sportsmanship, and community.
More than two decades later, that foundation evolved.
In 2013, BBCL (Bat x Ball Cricket League) was officially launched — becoming the first organized T20 league of its kind in the area. What started with just 4 teams and a simple vision has grown into one of the largest and most respected cricket leagues in the region.
Today, BBCL proudly features:
70+ competitive teams
A full Spring/Summer T20, T30, and T10 League
A competitive Fall T20 League
Structured rules and playing conditions
Umpire training and certification programs
Clear discipline and code-of-conduct standards
A growing cricket ecosystem built for long-term growth
But BBCL is more than numbers.
It is a commitment to raising the standard of amateur cricket.
We believe cricket should be competitive — but controlled. Passionate — but respectful. Intense — but professional.
BBCL was built to restore the spirit of the gentleman’s game while modernizing it for today’s players.
We expect captains to lead.
We expect players to compete hard — and respect harder.
We expect teams to uphold the standards that elevate the entire league.
Because when one team raises its standard, the entire community rises.
