BBCL Home & Visiting Team Protocols (2026)
1. Home Team Responsibilities
The Home Team Captain is the primary organizer for match-day setup.
Home team must:
Field & Setup
Arrive at the ground at least 45–60 minutes before scheduled toss.
Ensure the pitch and outfield are safe for play.
Set up matting securely (no wrinkles, no loose edges).
Mark boundaries (cones/ropes) at league-approved distance (55–70 yards where possible).
Place stumps, bails, and boundary markers before toss.
Provide water/first aid access.
Remove debris, bottles, or hazards from the field.
Match Administration
Submit playing XI and substitutes to umpire (and/or CricClubs app) before toss.
Organize and conduct the official toss on time (per BBCL schedule).
Be fully in uniform (max 2 exceptions allowed per BBCL rule).
Supply at least one new match ball to the umpire before the innings start.
Manage covers/tarpaulins if weather threatens.
Provide scoring assistance if electronic or manual scorers are not arranged by league.
Post-Match Duties
Ensure all equipment (matting, stumps, cones, bottles) is cleared.
Field must be cleaned — failure results in 5-run penalty.
Confirm scorecard is completed and signed by captains & umpire.
2. Visiting Team Responsibilities
The Visiting Team Captain ensures compliance and readiness to play.
Visiting team must:
Pre-Match
Arrive at least 30 minutes before toss.
Be fully in uniform (max 2 exceptions allowed per BBCL rule).
Cooperate with home team setup; ensure warm-ups do not interfere with matting/ground preparation.
Provide team sheet to umpire at toss.
During Match
Respect umpire authority and follow protocols for disputes (raise after match, not during).
Keep dugout/bench areas tidy.
Assist with keeping pace of play — no time wasting (umpire can penalize).
Post-Match
Confirm match result with umpire.
Ensure all players leave dugout and spectator areas clean.
Report any incidents (player disputes, eligibility concerns) to umpire immediately or league within 24 hrs.
3. Shared Responsibilities
Both teams must have minimum 7 players present at toss
Both captains must ensure sportsmanship and respect toward umpires.
Both teams must ensure the scorer's accuracy during the match.
Captains must manage discipline of their own players — misconduct is penalized under league code.
